The National Retail Federation says that 41% of consumers started their holiday shopping in October. The same percentage will have started in November; 18% wait until December. Gift cards remain the most popular gifts (61%), followed by clothing and accessories (54%), books, CDs, DVDs, and videos (40%), electronics (32%), and jewelry (23%).
