While it’s great to support charities and sponsor events with organizations supporting mental health, don’t do it without giving support to your staff’s wellbeing. Doing this—appearing to support mental health but not actually doing so for employees—is called wellbeing-washing (like the term green washing, it’s an exaggeration or falsehood about what you claim to be doing). According to one source, more than a third of businesses are “wellbeing-washing”.
