The federal Age Discrimination in Employment Act technically bars employers from discriminating against anyone age 40 or older. However, this law did not bar states from imposing age limits in certain cases. Now (due to the labor shortage??), some states are removing any caps. New Jersey lifted its age 70 limit, effective October 5, 2021. And as of October 1, 2021, Connecticut bars employers from asking age, or even the date of a job applicant’s first job, unless there is some legitimate need for asking. #IdeaoftheDay
