The federal government is looking for ways to boost the housing market. Toward this end, the Affordable Homes Act (H.R. 5184) has been proposed to eliminate duplicative federal rules for manufactured homes and home builders. Standards and regulatory authority would reside solely with the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD); energy standards from the Department of Energy (DOE) would be eliminated although DOE could still recommend rules to HUD. #IdeaoftheDay
