Bankruptcy Filings Are Up for Small Businesses

Bankruptcy filings increased by 50% year over year for the first half of 2026. These are filings under Subchapter V within Chapter 11 of the Bankruptcy Code. This is a faster, simplifier, and less expensive option for small businesses that was created by the Small Business Reorganization Act of 2019 (SBRA) to enable small businesses to restructure. #IdeaoftheDay
