Heat is the leading cause of death among all weather-related phenomena in the U.S., and excessive heat in the workplace can have adverse health effects, including health stroke and even death. Currently, there’s no federal standard regulating heat stress hazards in the workplace. A proposed rule would set a standard for health injury and illness prevention in indoor and outdoor work settings. Employers would have to take certain measures when heat reaches 80°F, with additional measures required at 90°F. Measures would include water and rest breaks. #IdeaoftheDay
