Small businesses that do federal contracting must comply with the SBA’s new recertification rule. Under the new rule, small businesses must recertify their size and applicable small business program (e.g., 8(a), HUBZone, women-owned, or service-disabled veteran) within 30 days of a merger, acquisition, or sale. A business that becomes disqualified after recertifying may be able to continue to receive orders under an existing contract if it’s a single award. But multiple-award set-asides for small businesses that become disqualified are then ineligible to receive orders. #IdeaoftheDay
