Many bricks-and-mortar retailers started sales weeks before today in an effort to “redefine” Black Friday. Still, sales are projected to reach $12.5 billion today alone. It’s expected that 73% of holiday shoppers will shop today. FYI: Why “Black” Friday? According to History, “As the story goes, after an entire year of operating at a loss (“in the red”), stores would supposedly earn a profit (“went into the black”) on the day after Thanksgiving, because holiday shoppers blew so much money on discounted merchandise.” #IdeaoftheDay
