The Monday Holiday Act moved the celebration of Washington’s Birthday to the third Monday in February. Efforts to have this day named Presidents Day (to celebrate the birthday of Lincoln and other Presidents) failed, but many people still refer to today as Presidents Day. No matter, most government and many private sector offices are closed today, while retailers hold Presidents Day Weekend Sales.
