The Tax Foundation’s map shows the top marginal rates on sole proprietorships in each state. California had the highest rate at 51.8%; Alaska, Florida, Nevada, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, and Wyoming all tied for the lowest rate at 42.6%. A separate map shows the top rates for S corporations; results were similar.
