USPS launched same-day delivery in the San Francisco and NYC areas. Called MetroPost, it’s available when you buy from participating retailers in or online (currently only a limited number of large merchants). For example, if a customer makes an in-store purchase by 2pm, it will be delivered by 7pm. Deliveries are made only to residences, not to businesses or P.O. boxes.
