The DOL issued a proposed rule to protect plan participants from hidden fees related to retirement advice in these plans. It would expand the definition of when a person is providing advice (it’s aimed mainly at brokers and wire houses). It would also include exemptions to streamline compliance. Comments from interested parties may result in rule changes before anything is finalized.
