Maria Contreras-Sweet was confirmed by the Senate on March 27 to be the head of the U.S. Small Business Administration. She succeeds Karen Mills, who left the position in August 2013. Ms. Contreras-Sweet is a Mexican immigrant who founded ProAmerica Bank in Los Angeles.
