To encourage taxpayers to invest in early stage innovative companies, there’s a new credit of 25% of investments in ventures up to $100,000, for a top credit of $25,000. Angels must remain invested for at least 3 years. The credit is nonrefundable, but there’s a 5-year carryover for amounts that can’t be used currently. The credit runs through 2016.
