When you fly, you’ll pay more for the September 11 security fee. Effective July 21, the $2.50 fee for a non-stop flight and $5.00 fee for a connecting flight rises to $5.60; a connection of more than 4 hours is treated as a separate flight, with an additional fee. Funds won’t be used for added air travel safety; they go into the federal government’s general fund.
