Estimated taxes

Today is the due date for the fourth installment of federal estimated taxes for 2012 (state taxes may also be due) for individuals. Pay this by check, charge card, or through EFTPS Online. Instead of paying the fourth installment of estimated tax for 2012, you can avoid penalties by filing your 2012 personal tax return by January 31, 2013 (assuming you have the necessary information about your business by this date). Farmers and commercial fishermen can avoid paying their single estimated tax payment for 2012 by today if they file their return by February 28, 2013.
