The Save American Workers Act of 2013 (H.R. 2575) would change the definition of a full-time employee for purposes of the Affordable Care Act’s employer mandate. The current 30 hours per week would be raised to 40 hours per week. And the formula for figuring full-time equivalent employees would divide the total number of hours of service of part-timers for the month by 174 instead of the current 120. Effect: More small businesses would be exempt from the employer mandate. Chances of enactment: ??
