A condition for claiming the work opportunity tax credit (WOTC) is that employers submit certification requests related to newly-hired workers from targeted groups to state workforce agencies no later than 28 days after the start of the job. However, because the WOTC for 2014 was not extended for the year until mid-December, the IRS has granted employers until April 30, 2015, to submit certification requests (Form 8850).
