“Ban-the-box” laws in more than a dozen states (CA, CO, CT, DE, HI, IL, MA, MD, MN, NE, NJ, NM, and RI) and a number of cities, say no, prior to a job interview. This is so even though this information is vital for some jobs (e.g., child care). The National Employment Law Project supports such laws on the grounds that the question is a bar to a criminal’s ability to return to society. What do you think?
