Today is a public holiday in Canada; most stores and businesses are open and Boxer Week Sales abound. In the U.S. and elsewhere, today is the start of returns at retailers. U.S. retailers must comply with government rules on returns and exchanges. Usually, return/exchange policies, including any restocking fee or other conditions on the consumer, must be prominently posted in stores and online. Hopefully, gift card recipients will also be drawn to shop today. The NRF predicts that $31 billion in gift cards will be sold during the holidays.
