The Innovation Act, introduced in Congress at the end of October, would work to curb abusive lawsuits filed by companies that buy up patents that aren’t used productively (merely as a way to file these lawsuits). Lawsuits by patent trolls cost $29 billion in 2011. The bi-partisan bill is supported by the National Retail Federation (NRF). Find details about the bill here.
