Currently states can tax employees who work temporarily within their borders. A bi-partisan bill, the Mobile Workforce State Income Tax Simplification Act of 2013 (S. 1645), would change this, easing the burden on workers and employers. The bill, which would create a 30-day threshold before a state could tax a worker, is supported by 250 organizations and business groups.
